Have you felt like there were a lack of great events to attend since career week has ended?! Well, you’re in luck! Alpha Kappa Psi is co-hosting not one, not two, but three events this week and all are definitely worth attending!! Here they are:

First Investors

Rhia Torentino, a recruiter at First Investors, gave a great presentation on what their company looks for in resumes. The presentation was very interactive and involved audience members reading from the slides. Ms. Torentino also shared the opportunities available at First Investors for students looking to get involved in the world of finance. It was a great event and everyone participated!

Toys R’ Us Presentation

Join Alpha Kappa Psi and Toys R’ Us employees including Mr. Brian Itro
working in internal audit and Lisa Illig a junior business analyst.
The first part of the event will include and opportunity to talk with
Mr. Itro and Ms. Illig and then they will be giving a presentation on
the career path journeys of alumni, internship opportunities, and
general company information. This event applies to all business
majors and is a great time to network! Both Mr. Itro and Ms. Illig
will be holding executive-in-residence spots earlier that morning.

Its that time of year again! The Professional Fraternity Council’s
Rush Week is here and anyone who is looking to become part of
something meaningful on campus should attend. Alpha Kappa Psi has a
jam-packed and exciting week filled with events including bowling,
speed socializing, and a professional panel for anyone who would like
to get to know the brothers of blue and gold. If you have any
questions or want to learn more about the PFC community then come to
the Mandela room at 7 p.m. on Monday February 12th!! We will see you

PBLI

Alpha Kappa Psi’s PBLI in Philadelphia was a wonderful way to keep
occupied during the weekend. There were brothers from all around the
northeast area and blue and gold clothing in every direction. With
multiple informational events and plenty of opportunities to learn
about other Alpha Kappa Psi chapters, there was not a dull moment to
be had. The 20+ attendees from Binghamton’s Omega Zeta chapter would
undoubtedly agree that it was a fun-filled weekend and a great
experience.

Finance Night

Finance Night was yet again a great success! There were great
networking opportunities with firms including Morgan Stanley, Ernst &
Young, PwC, Goldman Sachs, Northwestern Mutual and NBT Bank. The
event will consisted of three parts. The first section gave students
the opportunity to show off their analytical skills while walking
around to different tables and interacting in problem solving
activities. The second part was be a question and answer session with
the different firms and the final part was a round table discussion on
different topics relating to finance. There were seats filled with
people learning more about the area of Finance and everyone gained
more knowledge from those with first-hand experience within the field.

Goldman Sachs Community Event

This was a wonderful opportunity to help out the local
community with the added bonus of networking with Goldman Sachs
employees, including campus recruiters. Students decorated over 50
shoe boxes and added Valentine treats for the residents of Good
Shepherd Fairview Home. Attendees put a smile on someones face and
brightened up their day on Valentine’s Day while also working with
Goldman Sachs and getting their name out there.

Planning your Career Horizon with Chris Whitney

Chris Whitney led a wonderful discussion about how to map out your
future. Joining her were a wonderful panel of four Alpha Kappa Psi
alumni brothers in their graduate year here at Binghamton. Diana
Karotseris, working at McGladrey next year, Michael Boccio, working
at Anchin, Steven Brown, going to Ernst & Young, and Edward Calderone,
moving to Pricewaterhouse Coopers gave their input on how their
undergraduate careers at Binghamton got them to where they are now.

Chris shared with us the path that should be taken from Freshman year
through Senior year, along with the personal experiences of the panel
members, and what steps should be taken to continue your education or
find a job after graduation. This event was very informative for
anyone who had any doubts about what direction they should be heading
in, especially any freshman, sophomores, and transfer students. With
over 40 attendees this event was a wonderful success and a great guide
to plan ahead.

Info Session with NBT Bank

NBT Bank gave a wonderful presentation on Thursday, February
2nd giving a background to their organization and an explanation of
what their Management Development Program is. Ranked as one of the
top 20 best banks in the country by Forbes.com and part of the 120
largest banks in the United States, NBT Bank is a wonderful place to
begin your career. Most businesses had a tough time growing in the
year 2011 because of the economic environment but NBT was flourishing
and had one of their best financial years during this period. This is
a full-service bank that provides the opportunity to advance and make
a name for yourself because of its size, something that some of the
larger banks cannot offer.
The Management Development Program will begin in June 2012
and is located in Norwich, NY. This is a chance to begin in a
mid-level position where you will have the chance to grow as a leader
and possibly walk out with a full-time position with offers beginning
in late March or early April. Any senior or graduate student with a
bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business
Administration interested in the Management Development Program can
e-mail NBT Bank at students@nbtbank.com or contact Justin Rowe, the
program recruiter, at 607-337-6812. NBT Bank will also be on campus
for the CLIP Competition, the career fair, and Finance night and will
later return for interviews.
